A report by Phil Crisp - The 2011 Southern All Round Championships took place on
September 4th at Metamorfit Gym in Eastbourne - about as south as can be! Following
on from the Southern Counties Championships held at Metamorfit back in February
where some very good new lifters graced competition, some excellent lifting took place
at this September event, including several open and world records within the three lift
competition as well as in a record breaking session afterwards. The Southern All Round
Championships winner's title ended up being a match- up of the 2009 winner Philippe
Crisp and the 2010 winner Nick Swain, with Hall of Famer to be Sam Hills very closely
following in 3rd place. Philippe ended up just squeezing past Nick by dint of a very
impressive front squat which put him into what became (but only just!) an
unassailable lead.

Delamata taking fourth. The lifts were:

IAWA(UK) British Grip Championships - Saturday February 4th
UC Lan Sports Complex, Preston, Lancashire. Promoter - Mark Haydock

What a great start to the year for all round weightlifting in IAWA(UK) 18 lifters made it on to the platform and
amongst tem were lifters from as far North as Scotland and as far South as Devon and Cornwall, so well done
everyone on a great effort. It was also nice to see new lifters on the platform too, very well done to Rebecca
Christopher and David Hunter. Andy did a sterling job with the loading all day, and everyone got stuck in to
help with the refereeing as well. The lifting was terrific with lots of new records broken and set on the day.
When the lifting was finished everyone headed for home to try and beat the snow. We hope everyone arrived
home safe and sound. When they got home, Graham Alway proposed to partner Kim Rawlings, and they are
now to be wed, so all best wishes to them.
